We were met in our hotel by Bernard, the Kudu safari boss and were given an unexpected presents- T-sirts and sweaters. And, by the way, the sweaters were very, very useful, because I was not prepared for the cold August weather in Kenya and we were very grateful for them. We had two Landcruisers and our guide was Djuma and both guides were very knowledgable and responsive to all out requirements. And of course, I have to mention Edna- the office menager of Kudu safaris, she was brilliant in communicating, while negotiating. She was always available, answering promptly and accurately to all our letters and whatsApp mails! The safari was fulfilled exactly as planned an I strongly recommend Kudu! I had an overall great experience right from the planning prior to the safari trip and during the entire 5 days trip. Benard created a fantastic itinerary with great destinations such as the Ol pejeta conservancy in Nanyuki where we got to see endagered rhinos, Cresent island in Naivasha where we got to walk in close proximity to some wild animals and lastly the famous Masaai mara reserve. We were a large group of 30 people and all the logistics of the safari trip was handled very professionally with great hotels and fun stopovers. Our driver James was very kind and had alot of knowledge regarding the wildlife and the ecosystem of the masaai mara reserve. Firstly I want to say that I am in tourism myself. I have a camp in the Sahara Desert and I work with desert and tour drivers. I am born and bread in Africa although British. I wanted my children to come and see where their mother grew up. This trip was very important to me. I wanted an authentic, comfortable experience. Bernard worked through my wishes and changes bending over backwards for us. We booked last minute in the end (1 week before arriving) due to work and visa constraints.I cannot fault this Safari. Even in the hotel, we had the best family suite, in the tented lodge we had the best tent with a complete view of the Masai Mara, it was breath-taking. Both accommodation were superb. The most important aspect of the trip was our driver in the Masai - John, he had 30 years experience in tracking and was a conservation and ecologist. Daily educating us and my 11 year old son who got such an education from him. We saw more animals than any people at our camp or I dare say with drivers less experienced from very expensive luxury camps, as we witnessed, sadly the disrespect of many drivers. John was a rare diamond.We never had to wait to be collected along the itinerary, Bernard the owner came to meet us on arrival and give us gifts.I contact several safari agencies claiming to be exceptional and fast with response. They were not or they wanted to chat and it became laborious with them before I started. Bernard went straight onto whatsapp with me and sent itineraries which I could respond to quickly. He always found solutions quickly and efficiently, it was a joy to deal with him. I'm way to busy for laborious selling. What sets Kudu apart is that you are looked after by the boss, with huge experience. Mara Engai Lodge was great, tents in the jungle with guards to walk with you. Stunning views and the nicest staff I have ever met.We then went onto Amboseli as I wanted to see the tuskers. As we enter there was 'Craig' we knew we had been lucky, Tawi lodge that we arrived at could not believe it. We love Tawi lodge too, really special, our bathroom had a bath view of Kilimanjaro! They had a swimming pool next to a watering hole, when the kids were swimming an elephant walked up! I told Jack our second driver that we were here just for the elephants, he then changed his plan, enlisting a Masai Guide called David. We then collected David and had a private view with Craig and we were able to get so incredibly close to this giant tusker as he trusted the guide.We had a really wonderful time I could not fault it, even the staff on the small aircraft were so incredibly lovely and professional. In Nairobi I took the children to the Elephant orphanage, Kudu even helped me organise this, even though it wasnt part of our itinerary. They also helped me with my Tanzanian visas, if they hadnt stepped in Im not sure we would have been able to spend our last week in Zanzibar which I had booked independently. They really went above expectation helping us even though it wasnt part of our package. I was a little nervous as I was spending alot of money on this trip which was also partly for my daughters 21st birthday. I have to tell you that I definately do not think it was over priced and I felt that we really got alot for our money. it was very reasonable compared to other safari operators. Our driver was so friendly and happy to oblige anything we needed. Our visit to Sawela Lodge Naivasha was great and full of fun, it was a great place to unwind after a long period of work. We visited several places including the Crescent Island, and enjoyed every moment of our trip. Kudu made this exceptional from our pickup point in Nairobi to our drop off. Wat een fijn bedrijf is dit! We wilden lokaal boeken dus toen we in Nairobi aankwamen liepen we bij toeval tegen Kudu Hills Safari aan. (8 verdiepingen hoog weggestopt in een gebouw) Bernhard maakte midden in de renovatie van t kantoor tijd en ruimte vrij voor onze korte (3 daagse) safari. Eerlijk verhaal, geen mooie praatjes, prettige man. Aanbetaling gedaan en op t juiste moment opgehaald door John (de gids) en Bernhard. Met John vertrokken op safari. Wat een fijne kerel is dat! Sympathiek, veilige chauffeur, wist alle hoeken en gaten te vinden in Masai Mara. We hebben alles gezien. Leeuwen , cheetahs, luipaard(!) en alle grazers en rivier dieren. Echt heel fijn.
