Ol Pejeta Conservancy |
|
Ol Pejeta Conservancy, located on the Laikipia Plateau between the foothills of the Aberdare Ranges and the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya, is one of Kenya’s premier wildlife conservancies and a model for conservation and community development. It is home to the world’s last two remaining northern white rhinos and boasts one of the largest black rhino sanctuaries in East Africa. The conservancy also shelters a wide range of wildlife, including the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—as well as chimpanzees at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where these primates can be seen. Ol Pejeta combines wildlife protection with sustainable tourism and innovative community projects, making it a shining example of modern conservation in Africa.
