Morning: Departure & Arrival
5:30 – 6:00 AM:
Depart early from Nairobi. You’ll pass through the Great Rift Valley viewpoint on the way — a fantastic photo stop offering sweeping views of the valley floor and escarpments.
8:30 – 9:00 AM:
Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park’s Lanet or Main Gate, pay park fees, and start your game drive. As the sun rises higher, the park comes alive with activity — animals grazing, birds feeding, and predators retreating after night hunts.
Late Morning: Game Drive
9:00 – 11:30 AM:
Enjoy a slow drive through the park. Lake Nakuru is famed for its rhinos (both black and white), Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, baboons, and antelopes. If you’re lucky, you might spot lions lounging in the grass or leopards in the acacia trees.
The lake itself often shimmers with flamingos, pelicans, and cormorants — though flamingo numbers vary with water levels. Stop at scenic lookouts like:
Midday: Picnic or Lodge Lunch
12:00 – 1:30 PM:
Have lunch at one of the designated picnic sites inside the park (Baboon Cliff is popular), or drive to one of the nearby lodges for a buffet meal — such as Sarova Lion Hill Lodge, Lake Nakuru Lodge, or The Cliff.
Relax a bit, watch the lake, and enjoy the sounds of nature — you may spot monkeys or impalas wandering nearby.
Afternoon: More Wildlife & Scenic Stops
1:30 – 3:30 PM:
Take another short game drive on the way out. You might visit the Makalia Waterfall at the southern end of the park, a peaceful spot surrounded by lush vegetation.
